It was only on the 21st of January this year that Nokia announced that Navigation for Ovi maps  was going to be free for all its GPS enabled phones. Within a week of the announcement Nokia announced  that the Ovi maps had been downloaded 1 million times, and now the figure is up to 1.4 million! Also, starting next month all new Nokia GPS-enabled smartphones will include the new version of Maps, pre-loaded...

Nokia announced today, that they would be offering free turn-by-turn navigation on its smartphones across 74 in 46 languages, with detailed maps of 180 countries. The free turn-by-turn navigation trend was started by Google with the Motorola Droid device. Nokia recently updated the Nokia Maps 2.0 Navigation software for both s40 and s60 devices to Ovi Maps 3.0. The new software has various UI/visual and technical updates.
